Thornton Manor Wirral and Cheshire. Thornton Manor is a Grade II listed country Manor built in the mid-19th century, it is famously known that it became the home of (Lord Leverhulme), founder of Lever Brothers and Unilever in 1881. The land was originally owned by the Mostyn family and it is believed that Charles William Potts in 1859 purchased the land and started to build on the land. The original house was Built in Elizabethan/Jacobean revival style. The estate became a symbol of Lever’s wealth and vision, with Renaissance-style music rooms, gardens, and a Henry Willis organ, which still exists today in the beautiful Music room. Its gardens and architecture reflect the grandeur of late Victorian and Edwardian tastes.
